sponsored by Dick's Sporting Goods, the Official Sporting Goods Retailer of MSYSA

New for 2013:DSG Logo Read the Press Release
MSYSA has created a separate division of the Junior State Cup for future MRL hopefuls. This "Pre-MRL" division is for U12 teams who want play U13 in MRL. Junior State Cup results will be integrated into the current MRL point system (TBD). Only those teams who play in the Pre-MRL division will be considered for endorsement to the MRL as a U13 team.

Secondly, the Junior State Cup will begin offering competition at the U10 age group (6 v 6) in 2013.

Thirdly, a player may now play in both State Cup and Junior State Cup (assuming age eligible for both).

Lastly, and similar to the MSYSA State Cup, a Round of 16 will be offered in the Junior State Cup for any/all age groups
that have 28 or more teams.

If you are interested in hosting the 2014 MSYSA Jr. State Cup Tournament, please download the 2014 MSYSA Jr. State Cup Request For Proposal and submit it to the MSYSA State Office on or before Wednesday, August 14, 2013.

A Few Reminders:

Preliminary Games – Logistics Due February 22, 2013
Preliminary games are self-scheduled by the participating teams. Please contact the coach or manager of the opposing team(s), and set up your preliminary game schedule and obtain directions to the fields. The Home Team is always the first team listed. For the all age groups, all preliminary games must be played between March 16, 2013 and May 5, 2013. There will be no exceptions! Game dates and times must be mutually agreed upon by both coaches. If both coaches cannot agree on game date(s), time(s), and location(s) for their preliminary games, MSYSA will schedule the game(s). If this occurs, the game(s) must be played as scheduled by MSYSA.

It is the responsibility of the Home Team to report the preliminary game logistics (who, what, where, when, etc) by entering this information directly into their GotSoccer account (instructions above). THIS INFORMATION MUST BE RECEIVED BY FEBRUARY 22, 2013. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture and subsequent fines. There will be NO CHANGES of any kind after the February 22nd deadline (excluding weather-related changes).

Rosters – Due 4:30pm on March 15, 2013
Your Junior State Cup tournament roster is due into the MSYSA State Office no later than 4:30 pm on March 15, 2013. Please see the posted instructions for how to submit a tournament roster online. Make sure your roster is accurate before submitting! There will be no changes, even for honest mistakes, after the deadline. Your tournament roster must include ALL club passcard players that you may wish to use during the tournament.

Referees:
MSYSA will assign referees to all preliminary games. Any team who does not use MSYSA assigned referees may be subject to fines, game forfeitures, and/or disqualifications. Please see the Junior State Cup rules for a referee fee chart. Teams are responsible for referee fees for all preliminary games and Round of 16 games. MSYSA only pays the referee fees for the Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals.

Score Reporting – Due within 24 hours of the game
The winning team (or home team in case of a tie) of each preliminary game must report the game results within 24 hours of the game by phoning in the game scores. Also, the winning team (or home team in case of a tie) must mail in ONE copy of the Junior State Cup Game Report (scorecard) that has been signed by both teams and all referees. Game Reports are printed from GotSoccer. Game Reports must be mailed to MSYSA, Attention: Junior State Cup, 9401 General Drive, Suite 120, Plymouth, MI  48170, within 24 hours of your game(s). Failure to phone in your score and mail in your Game Report may result in a $100 fine for each offense and/or the disqualification of the winning team. Instructions for phoning in your game scores and printing game reports are posted.

Game Cancellations
If/when a facility owner, property owner, township official, and/or city (parks and rec) official cancels the game, please follow the steps below to notify MSYSA of the game cancellation. A coach or manager does NOT have the authority to cancel a game.

  1. Immediately upon notification of a game cancellation by a facility, notify StateCup@michiganyouthsoccer.org AND syramich@gmail.com. Include the game number, date, time, location, age/gender, and opponents, and also include the cancellation notification you received from the facility.
  2. Upon your notification, MSYSA and/or the Junior State Cup Refereeing Assigning Committee will cancel the referees.
  3. If your notification is received in a timely manner (preferably at least 2 hours before game time) AND if the referees get the cancellation notice before arriving to the fields, the teams will not owe referee fees. However, if either of the aforementioned criteria is not met, the home team is responsible for the referee fees. You will receive e-mail communication when referees have been cancelled.
  4. Immediately begin discussions with the opposing team on the rescheduling of the game. Send rescheduled game logistics to StateCup@michiganyouthsoccer.org. Logistics must be received at least 3 days prior to the proposed re-scheduled game in order to allow for time to find referees.

Please note that if the referees are on site and deem the field conditions as unplayable or weather conditions as dangerous to players, they shall still receive match fees and the fees are to be split between both teams.

Sportsmanship
We anticipate the Junior State Cup Tournament to be extremely competitive.  Keep in mind that the aspect of sportsmanship is very important during the Junior State Cup competition.  Any inappropriate conduct by players, coaches, team officials and parents will not be tolerated by MSYSA.

Coaches, please remind your parents that they should NOT approach referees after the game with questions or concerns. If you feel a referee did not perform well, please e-mail the Junior State Cup Committee or use send feedback via the Junior State Cup survey.
