Coaching Education D Course

The 'D' Course
 

  • To prepare coaches working with players U10 - U13 and above by expanding their knowledge and understanding of the technical and tactical demands of the game and the developmental process necessary for players of these ages.

  • To provide an understanding of practical coaching methodology and the framework necessary to prepare players and a team for competition.

  • To prepare coaches for whom this represents their final coaching course as well as those who plan to pursue an advanced U.S. Soccer Federation National Coaching License.

  • State “D” License: 2 weekends (includes 2 evenings), 40 hours – must attend all hours and complete Laws exam, Oral exam, and Field Session Tests.

  • COURSE GRADES

    • National “D” License: can attend National “C” course after 12 months
      • Denoted on the certificate by an N at the end of the license number  
                        
    • State “D” License: must re-test after 3 months, pay a $50 fee and pass for National “D” at course; then may attend “C” course after 12 months
      • Denoted on the certificate by an S at the end of the license number              
               
    • Failure: can re-test for State or National “D” license after 3-6 months (required to attend last 2 days of course) $50 fee applies.

  • The course has written exams and field testing. Coaches should allot 3-5 hours in the evening to complete the written assignments and training session plan.

  • The D course can be physically rigorous; participation in the practical, active session is strongly encouraged but not required.
