D COURSE INFORMATION
Please refer to your license number to determine whether you received a State D License or a National D License. At the end of the license number, an S refers to a State D License and an N refers to a National D License (e.g. license number D12345S is a State D License; license number D12345N is a National D License).
Both the State D License and the National D License allow a person to coach in Michigan State Premier Soccer Program. If you receive a National D License, then after coaching with your National D License for no less than 12 months, you are eligible to participate in the National C License Course hosted by US Soccer. If you receive a State D License then you must retest in order to obtain your National D License.
To retest, a coach must: a) have coached with the State D License for no less than 3 months, b) must attend no less than the last weekend of an available D Course (although we recommend participating in the entire course), and c) make a check payable to MSYSA for $50 and have it received in the State Office prior to retesting. A candidate can retest up to three times at $50 before he or she is required to retake the entire course free of charge.
If you do not receive a D License, you may retake the final two days, (although we recommend participating in the entire course), of a D Course no less than three months after the completion of the previous D Course for $50.
Whether the candidate is looking to improve from a fail to a pass (State or National) or a State D License to a National D License, a Coaching Clinic Registration form must accompany the $50 retest fee.
It is important to contact MSYSA Director of Coaching Bryan Thorp prior to retaking or retesting because the instructional staff at the D Course you selected will need to be notified that you will be attending. He can be reached by email bthorp@michiganyouthsoccer.org or phone (734) 459-6220 extension 208.
