Mr. Bryan Thorp

Bryan Thorp was appointed the Director of Coaching for the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association in February of 2009. Prior to his appointment at MSYSA, Mr. Thorp held the Assistant Director of Coaching position at Austin United Capitals in Austin, Texas. His duties included developing an Academy Curriculum  for ages 9/10  along with the training regiment for ages 16 and above.

From 2006-2008, Mr. Thorp was the Director of Coaching for North Meck Soccer Club (NMSC). During his tenure, NMSC earned recognition as one of the top 64 clubs in the USA . While at NMSC Mr. Thorp aided in the design and implementation of a standard curriculum for ages 5 to 18. He established a Coaching Education Program that involved training and game assessments along with an internet-secured education website full of teaching tools. Further, he developed an active Parent Education Program integrating models from NCYSA and USYSA. he was an inaugural member of the NCYSA Youth Academy Committee to develop a statewide development program for ages 9 and 10.

In Florida, Mr. Thorp along with local Jacksonville Soccer Directors, initiated the First Florida Youth Academy Progams for ages 11 and 12. New programs were instituted that involved developmental skill training programs, advanced skill level programs, fitness training programs, goalkeeping programs, and coaching education programs.

He began his collegiate coaching experience at his alma mater, Bowdoin College, and has had experience with Division I and Division III levels along with Regional ODP Programs.

Bryan Thorp is a consummate educator and student of the game. He has instructed numerous coacing clinics and/or license programs and holds the UEFA "Advanced" License, the USSF "Advanced" License, the US Youth National License, and the NSCAA Premier Diploma.
