MSYSA SHIELD Program

Soccer Head Injury Education and Learning Directive

Welcome to the SHIELD program!

Soccer Head Injury Education and Learning Directive

A program created by MSYSA and several key sponsors to promote head injury awareness in the game of soccer.

By utilizing a database of articles and clinical studies, the SHIELD program aims to educate parents, coaches, administrators, and players about the warning signs and treatment of head injuries, as well as other common injuries in soccer.

What’s New?

  • ImPACT and MLS – ImPACT Applications, Inc. (ImPACT) and Major League Soccer (MLS) have announced a strategic partnership to launch a formal Concussion Management Program that will promote testing, education, awareness, and state-of-the-art standards of care to each of MLS’ 13 teams. Click here to read the full press release.
  • ImPACT© - Call today to set up and appointment for your pre-concussion (baseline) test using the latest technology in identifying concussions. By comparing test results after a head injury to the baseline test, ImPACT© is able to determine if a concussion did in fact happen and the severity of the injury.  This serves as a great guideline in the healing process and helps to prevent Second Impact Syndrome

In the News...

Since its launch in early 2006, the Soccer Head Injury Education and Learning Directive program has quickly gained momentum and captured the attention of the local media including Fox 2, Detroit Free Press, and Metro Parent.
