2025 USYS National Semifinal Recap

MICHIGAN TIGERS ELITE 64 11G NARROWLY FALL 2-1 TO COLUMBUS UNITED G11 LIONS

In a tightly contested U14 Girls semifinal on July 26, 2025, Michigan Tigers Elite 64 11G delivered a strong performance but ultimately were edged 2-1 by the Columbus United G11 in the knockout rounds of the USYS National Championships, held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME FLOW

Michigan Tigers secured their place in the semifinals following a solid group performance, finishing with a 2-0-1 record and an impressive 10 goals scored against just 4 conceded, showcasing both offensive firepower and organizational strength. In the knockout round, the Michigan Tigers fought valiantly and remained competitive against a well-prepared Columbus United team. Ultimately, though, the Lions managed to find the decisive edge and emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.

PATH TO NATIONALS

The Tigers earned their spot at Nationals by advancing through the National League process – demonstrating their consistency and competitiveness in high-stakes regional play. After being national runner-ups the previous year, Columbus United regrouped and successfully advanced to Nationals through the National League – ultimately turning their redemption arc into a championship-winning run.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Though eliminated in a hard-fought semifinal, the Michigan Tigers displayed remarkable resolve, balanced play, and character – qualities that propelled their impressive journey to the national stage.

STANDING PROUD

While the semifinal exit stings, the Michigan Tigers can hold their heads high. Their journey – earning qualification through the National League, dominating group play, and competing fiercely in the knockout round – reflects the heart and spirit of this team. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. Their performance in Orlando signifies the strength of Michigan youth soccer and sets the stage for future success. Well played, Tigers – your dedication and teamwork shone brightly on the national stage.
