The Michigan State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) is proud to promote the Director’s Academy (DA), a statewide development program designed to provide a high-level training and competition environment for players at the U11 and U12 age groups. Clubs, coaches, and families can now find complete program details on the official Director’s Academy webpage:
👉 Director’s Academy Information Page

The Director’s Academy focuses on long-term player development by placing an emphasis on coaching education, structured training environments, and meaningful competition. Participation in the program is limited to clubs that meet specific MSYSA standards, ensuring that players train in an environment built around quality instruction and positive growth.

Unlike traditional team-entry leagues, acceptance into the Director’s Academy is based on club applications. MSYSA evaluates each club’s overall structure, player development programming, coaching education, and commitment to MSYSA initiatives before granting entry into the program. This selective process helps maintain a consistent, high-level experience for all participating players.

The Director’s Academy provides competition at the U11 and U12 levels in a 9v9 format, with teams placed into appropriate tiers to create competitive and developmentally appropriate matches. Teams typically play games in both the fall and spring seasons, and all Director’s Academy teams participate in the MSYSA Junior State Cup, creating an additional opportunity for growth and advancement.

A key philosophy of the Director’s Academy is that development comes before results. Scores and standings are not publicly posted at these age groups, allowing players and coaches to focus on learning, improving, and building confidence without the pressure to win at all costs.

Through its focus on education, structured competition, and long-term development, the Director’s Academy continues to serve as one of MSYSA’s premier pathways for young players who aspire to compete at the highest levels of youth soccer in Michigan and beyond.
