Past Great Lakes Presidents Cup Recap

CAP CITY 09G BLUE

Cap City 09G Blue proudly represented Michigan at the 2026 US Youth Soccer Great Lakes Presidents Cup in Westfield, Indiana, competing against some of the top U17 Girls teams from across the region.

The tournament began with a closely contested match in which Cap City battled hard but came up just short in a narrow 1-0 defeat. The team continued to compete with determination throughout the weekend, facing strong opponents in each group stage contest.

In their second match, Cap City found the back of the net but fell by a 4-1 scoreline. The team closed out tournament play with another spirited effort, scoring twice in a 4-2 result in their final group stage match.

Over the course of the tournament, Cap City scored three goals and continued to battle until the final whistle in every match. While the results did not fall in their favor and the team finished with a 0-3-0 record, the experience of competing at the regional level is a significant accomplishment and a reflection of the success they achieved throughout the season.

Advancing to the Great Lakes Presidents Cup requires a tremendous amount of hard work, commitment, and perseverance, and Cap City earned the opportunity to represent Michigan through an outstanding State Cup campaign. Although they were unable to advance out of group play, the players, coaches, and supporters should be extremely proud of what they accomplished this season.

The opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the Great Lakes Region capped off a memorable year for Cap City 09G Blue and provided valuable experience that will benefit the team moving forward.
