Monroe United Black B12 NL proudly represented Michigan at the 2026 USYS National Championships in Utah, competing against the nation’s top U14 Boys teams.
Monroe United opened tournament play with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Kentucky before battling to a 1-1 draw against the Missouri representative in its second group stage match. The strong start kept the Michigan representative in contention heading into the final day of play.
In the final group stage match, Monroe faced Colorado in a tightly contested battle. Despite a determined defensive effort, the team fell 1-0, narrowly missing out on a place in the quarterfinals.
Monroe concluded group play with a 1-1-1 record, scoring two goals while conceding just two. The team’s disciplined defensive performances throughout the tournament demonstrated its ability to compete with the nation’s best, even though it fell just short of advancing to the knockout rounds.
Competing at the USYS National Championships is an outstanding accomplishment, and Monroe United Black B12 NL represented Michigan with determination, resilience, and pride throughout the tournament.
