Nationals Union 13B Black secured the 2026 MSYSA State Cup U13 Boys Elite Championship with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DCFC West 13B in a tightly contested final.
The opening 35-minute half showcased high-level competition from both sides, as Nationals and DCFC traded possession and created quality scoring opportunities. Strong defensive efforts and disciplined play kept the match scoreless heading into halftime, setting the stage for an intense second half.
The breakthrough came in the 50th minute when Nationals switched the field of play to create space in the attacking third. A Nationals player seized the opportunity, striking a shot from distance that soared over the goalkeeper and into the upper right corner of the net for the game’s lone goal.
With the lead in hand, Nationals remained organized defensively while DCFC continued to push for an equalizer. Both teams battled until the final whistle, but Nationals defense stood firm to preserve the clean sheet and secure the championship victory.
The 1-0 result capped off an impressive State Cup campaign for Nationals Union 13B Black, earning the team the title of 2026 MSYSA State Cup U13 Boys Elite Champion. With the victory, Nationals Union will represent Michigan at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Utah this July as they compete against the nation’s top teams.
