U14 Boys Elite Spring State Cup 2026 Championship

MICHIGAN BURN B12 VS MONROE UNITED BLACK 12B

Michigan Burn B12 captured the 2026 MSYSA State Cup U14 Boys Elite Championship in dramatic fashion, defeating Monroe United Black 12B 2-1 in overtime to earn a spot at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Utah.

The championship match was a tightly contested battle from the opening whistle, with both teams creating opportunities but neither side able to find the breakthrough. Strong defensive performances and key saves kept the score level at 0-0 through the first half and throughout the remainder of regulation, sending the final into overtime.

Michigan Burn broke the deadlock early in the first overtime period. Just five minutes into extra time, Burn played a perfectly weighted through ball behind the Monroe defense, allowing an attacker to slide the ball past the goalkeeper and give Burn a 1-0 advantage.

Monroe United responded quickly. Three minutes later, Monroe was rewarded a penalty kick and calmly converted the opportunity to level the match at 1-1, setting up a tense finish to the State Cup final.

With the game appearing destined for penalty kicks, Michigan Burn produced one final moment of quality. With just two minutes remaining in the second overtime period, Burn found another dangerous through ball that split the defense. The attacker raced onto the pass and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to restore the lead and secure the championship-winning goal.

The thrilling 2-1 overtime victory crowned Michigan Burn B12 as the 2026 MSYSA State Cup U14 Boys Elite Champion. With the State Cup title, Michigan Burn will represent Michigan at the US Youth Soccer National Championships in Utah, where they will compete against the top teams from across the country.
