U18/19 Girls Premier Fall State Cup 2025 Championship

DETROIT CITY FC DOWNRIVER 07/08G ROUGE VS DETROIT CITY FC GENESEE 08G ROUGE

In the U18/19 Girls Premier Final of the MSYSA Fall State Cup, Detroit City FC Genesee 08G Rouge claimed a commanding 3-0 victory over Detroit City FC Downriver 07/08G Rouge. The first half was a tightly contested battle, with both sides creating chances but unable to break through. Strong defensive organization and composed goalkeeping on both ends kept the match scoreless through the opening 45 minutes.

Just minutes into the second half, Genesee broke the deadlock in the 48th minute. Following a long throw-in and a series of contested headers, a Genesee forward found space and lofted a well-placed shot that sailed just over the Downriver goalkeeper’s reach to make it 1-0. The momentum stayed with Genesee, and in the 69th minute, they doubled their lead when a perfectly delivered corner kick connected with the head of an open forward to extend the advantage to 2-0.

Genesee sealed the win in the 74th minute with a brilliant sequence that showcased their composure and teamwork. A build-up from the back led to a breakaway through the middle, where a forward unselfishly slotted the ball across the box to a teammate for a clean finish at the back post. With that, Detroit City FC Genesee 08G Rouge secured the 3-0 victory and the MSYSA Fall State Cup title. Congratulations to the team on their outstanding performance – and best of luck as they represent Michigan at the 2026 US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Regionals in Indiana next June!
